Fruit Trees at Diamond J Farms

OK, I'm a big fan of fruit. And fruit from the store just doesn't taste like those fresh from the tree. So when we bought the land with the pond on it, I decided that along the side of the pond would be a great spot for some fruit trees. I also have some container plants/bushes in the backyard, too. I expanded the fruit tree project after I got pregnant for my first child, deciding that I want my children to enjoy fruit straight from the tree. Finding fruit that will grow in this area is not that easy, we don't get enough chill hours for many of the Traditional fruit varieties, and our occasional hard freezes cause problems for Sub-Tropical Fruit types. Another difficulty is we have high heat and humidity with long spans of no rainfall each year, coupled with clay soil and water which are both very alkaline. My goal is to have some type of fruit ripening most months of the year. It hasn't been an easy quest, and my lack of a green thumb has not helped, but I continue to move forward with my plan. Most of my trees are too young to make fruit, I've placed an * after any that have made at least one fruit.
